About Us

Clinical Connect

Who We Are – Pegasus Health

Pegasus Health is a charitable primary care organisation that supports general practice teams and the wider primary care workforce across Waitaha Canterbury. Guided by the value of manaakitanga, we show care, kindness, and respect; act with integrity; include every voice; and work together to strengthen primary care for our communities.

Our purpose and story

Our focus is on improving health outcomes through equity, innovation, and collaboration, and on supporting clinicians with high quality, peer-led education and connection.

Our History – From Small Groups to a National Network

Clinical Connect has grown from a small group of GPs in the early 1990s into a multidisciplinary, nationwide peer‑education programme.

For more than three decades, the programme has evolved to meet the needs of primary care teams, expanding to include practice nurses, community pharmacists, and nurse practitioners, and introducing rural and multidisciplinary groups. It continued to adapt through the COVID‑19 pandemic and now includes a dedicated Clinical Connect Online model.

Key milestones mark significant points in this journey and highlight the growth, innovation, and collaboration that continue to shape the programme.

Our Principles – What Shapes Clinical Connect

  • Independent – Free from commercial influence, ensuring content supports clinicians and patients.

  • Peer‑led – Facilitated by primary care clinicians, creating a trusted learning environment.

  • Evidence‑informed – Based on the best available research, balanced with clinical experience.

  • Interactive and case‑based – Built around real scenarios that encourage discussion, reflection, and immediate application.

  • Designed to stretch the mind – Encourages critical thinking, debate, and exploration of complex or evolving areas of practice.

We focus on topics that highlight variations in care, gaps between current and best practice, and inequities in health outcomes. By leaning into the ‘grey areas’, Clinical Connect creates space for rich dialogue, shared problem solving, and collaborative learning.
